PURPOSE: An electrolyte for a lithium battery is provided to obtain a lithium battery having excellent electrochemical properties such as over-charge stability, high temperature property and working life. CONSTITUTION: The electrolyte for a lithium battery comprises a non-aqueous organic solvent, a lithium salt and an additive. The electrolyte is characterized in that the additive comprises (a) the compound of the formula 1 and (b) a compound selected from the group consisting of an organic sulfone compound, a poly(ester)(meth)acrylate or a polymer thereof and a mixture thereof, and the poly(ester)(meth)acrylate is a polymer in which the hydroxy groups in the polyester polyol having at least three hydroxy groups are partially or totally transformed into (meth)acrylate ester, and the unreacted hydroxy groups that are not substituted with (meth)acrylate ester in the remaining part of hydroxy groups are substituted with a radically non-reactive group. In formula 1,R1 is a C1-C10 alkyl, C1-C10 alkoxy or a C6-C10 aryl, X is a halogen, and each of m and n is an integer of 1-6 with the proviso that m+n is not greater than 6. |
