PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a curing resin composition that is applicable to a display element substrate such as an active matrix type liquid crystal display element substrate or an organic EL element substrate and that is excellent in heat resistance and chemical resistance. SOLUTION: The overcoating material comprises at least a curing composition and two or more solvents of which both boiling temperatures are higher than that of the curing initiation temperature of the curing composition and of which at least one of the temperatures is from the curing initiation temperature +30°C to the initiation temperature +100°C. The curing composition comprises an epoxy resin (a) and a cationic catalyst (b), or an epoxy resin (a), a cyanate ester resin (c) and a cationic catalyst (b) as main components.
