PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a curable resin composition due to a new crosslinking system capable of reconciling hydrophilicity and water resistance, and an article treated therewith. SOLUTION: The curable resin composition includes a polymer having an N-vinylamide unit, a compound having two or more functional groups reacting with active hydrogen and a polyvalent metal compound as essential components. The functional group reacting with active hydrogen is at least one group selected from the group consisting of a methylol group, an isocyanate group, an epoxy group and an oxazoline group and the polyvalent metal compound contains zirconium as an essential element.
