<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for manufacturing an electrode at sufficiently high temperatures without damaging electrode activity of an air electrode comprising La(Ni)FeO<SB>3</SB>. <P>SOLUTION: This solid oxide fuel cell has a fuel electrode 4 and the air electrode 1 installed through an electrolyte membrane 3, and an intermediate layer 2 comprising Ce(X)O<SB>2</SB>(X is either one of Sm, Gd, and Y) (an SDC layer) is installed between the electrolyte membrane comprising scandia stabilized zirconia and the air electrode comprising La(Ni)FeO<SB>3</SB>. Therefore, by forming the SDC layer between the air electrode comprising La(Ni)FeO<SB>3</SB>and the zirconia base electrolyte, the reaction of the La(Ni)FeO<SB>3</SB>of the air electrode with the zirconia in the electrolyte is suppressed, and cell performance is improved. As a result, sintering of the air electrode at high temperatures is made possible, and the stability of the cell over a long time is made possible without decreasing the electrode performance. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
