PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multiple optical axis photoelectric sensor which can avoid the influence of coherent light without fail, even if it is in an environment where it receives coherent light from other devices. SOLUTION: When scan action incapable of detecting coherent light in nonprojection periods have continued a specified number of times, this photoelectric sensor varies the scan cycle at random. Hereby, it becomes possible to detect the coherent light, and interference can be avoided by ordinary interference-avoiding action. In this case, the possibility of executing the same interference-avoiding action as in other multiple optical axis photoelectric sensors is very low, because this varies the scan cycle at random.
