<p>The present invention relates to a process for the recovery of gallium from Bayer process liquors. Bayer process liquor is obtained from alumina industries and contains 450g/L Na>2<O, 80g/L Al>23< and 190 +/- 20 ppm of gallium. The present invention utilizes an organic and inorganic phase for a two stage separation process to recover gallium with high purity. The first organic phase comprises 7-(4-ethyl-1-methyloctyl)-8-hydroxyquindine, iso-decanol, versatic 10 and kerosene and the second phase tricaprylmethyl-ammonium chloride, iso-decanol and kerosene.</p> |
