A benzofuran derivative useful in medicines especially as an activated blood coagulation factor X inhibitor. It is a benzofuran derivative represented by the general formula [1]: [1] (wherein X represents -N= or -CH=; Y represents optionally substituted amino, optionally substituted cycloalkyl, or an optionally substituted saturated heterocyclic group; A represents a single bond, a carbon chain optionally having a double bond in the chain or at a chain end, or oxygen; R1 represents hydrogen, halogeno, etc.; ring B represented by the formula (2) represents an optionally substituted benzene ring; and R3 represents hydrogen, etc.) or a pharmacologically acceptable sa lt of the derivative.
