Computer-based method for searching for documents in a multilingual document collection. Said documents are stored in a data processing device together with a multilingual specialist glossary. Said glossary contains essential concepts relating to the document collection in different languages. When a search request is input it is automatically translated to all the languages within the glossary so that all the documents in the collection can be searched. The invention also relates to a corresponding system with an input device, module for formation of a multilingual specialist glossary and a search module.
