IMPROVED EDGE SUPPORT ON A MATTRESS

An innerspring mattress (10) having an edge support insert (26) that overlap s the upper and lower (24) border wires of the mattress. The edge support inse rt (26) has a C-shaped cross-section or the cross-section may gradually thicken from interior corners of the "C" toward the center forming a putative E-shap ed cross-section. The edge support may be a continuous unit that is installed around the entire perimeter of the innerspring mattress assembly. The simple cross-section allows efficient extrusion manufacturing and is efficiently installed around the innerspring mattress coil matrix.
