An RF system comprises a first amplifier (1) equipped with a first frequency mixer (5). A second amplifier (2) has a second frequency mixer (6) and a movable transmitter (14) has a position (x1,y1) in a multi-dimensional reference system (x,y) and outputs a radio signal at a frequency (f1). A reference generator (8) generates a reference signal with a local-oscillator-frequency, and has an output which is coupled to the second input of both frequency mixers (5,6) of the receiver (1,2) for supplying the local-oscillator frequency. An evaluating unit (13) comprises a phase-comparator connected to each output of the two frequency mixers (5,6) for transmitting an intermediate frequency signal in each case for determining the position (x1,y1) of the transmitter (14) in the (x,y) reference system.
