PURPOSE: An automatic vending machine system having a multimedia function and a method thereof are provided to supply a multimedia service to a user and update the multimedia remotely and manage the vending machine remotely. CONSTITUTION: An internet(220) as a network transmits and receives data between terminals scattered remotely. A number of vending machines(210-218) are connected to the above internet, and sell products and provide multimedia service to users. A central server(230) communicates with the terminals through the internet, and transmits multimedia data constituting the multimedia service to the vending machines. And a vending machine database(240) operates according to the control of the central server, and stores multimedia data information and network information as data.
