PURPOSE: A backlight is provided to optimize a structure of the backlight by asymmetrically forming external electrodes at a fluorescent lamp, thereby realizing a large light source having a larger light-emitting area. CONSTITUTION: A fluorescent lamp(31) is formed in a transparent tube in one direction. One external electrode(32a) is formed at one end of the fluorescent lamp corresponding to one corner of a liquid crystal panel. Another external electrode(32b) is formed at the other end of the fluorescent lamp corresponding to the other corner of the liquid crystal panel. The external electrode corresponding to one corner of the liquid crystal panel is shorter than the external electrode corresponding to the other corner of the liquid crystal panel. |
