A warning or auxiliary lamp 10 for attaching to objects such as car bumpers (figure 1) comprises a base plate 16 with a flange 11 that extends out of the plane of the plate but is inclined towards it. A cover plate 14 also has a flange 18 extending outwards from the cover and the two flanges engage. Light emitting diodes 13 mounted on a circuit board 12 are located in the chamber formed by the two housings, which are secured together by ultrasonic welding. Preferably, the housings and circuit board are flexible so that they can be bent (figure 4) for mounting on to a curved surface. The shape may be retained by a metal insert 30 and power may be supplied via the car's electric system 17. The cover may have corrugations 19 to diffuse the light and the lamp can be attached via adhesive applied to its base plate. |
