<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing system that can perform a high speed printing operation without stopping DMA transfer by adding dummy data to the rear part of print data in a printing system including a printer. <P>SOLUTION: A host device 2 forms print data by using an application 4. When the size of the print data is less than a predetermined number of bytes, the host device 2 adds the dummy data to the print data and sends it to the printer 3. The printer 3 performs buffering of the predetermined number of bytes of the print data. When the predetermined number of bytes of the print data is buffered, the print data is transferred to a memory 15 by the DMA transfer, and then the operation is repeated, thereby completing the transferring of the print data.
