BASE FOR INK JET RECORDING CAST COATED PAPER AND INK JET RECORDING CAST COATED PAPER USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a base for an ink jet recording cast coated paper with which the ink jet recording cast coated paper excellent in recording layer strength can be formed, and the ink jet recording cast coated paper using the same.

SOLUTION: The ink jet recording cast coated paper provided with a cast coated layer over an under layer on at least one side of a base paper in which the under layer contains synthetic amorphous silica (A) of an oil absorption of 200 ml/100 g or higher and ground calcium carbonate (B) having 95 wt.% or more of particles 2 μm or lower in particle size. The content of the synthetic amorphous silica and the ground calcium carbonate in weight ratio is, A:B=50:50-80:20.
