<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal transfer intermediate transfer medium with advantages such as superb glossiness when an image is transferred to a coated paper using the medium, high transferability even to a final recording medium with more significant irregularities compared to a conventional final recording medium, high sensitivity, good solid quality, fine line reproducibility, ability to stably convey the medium and also enhanced shelf stability and suitability for production, and an imaging method using the medium. <P>SOLUTION: The thermal transfer intermediate transfer medium is constituted of a heat-softening layer, an intermediate layer, and an image receiving layer formed on a support. The binder tensile strength of the intermediate layer is 0.3432 to 98.07 MPa, the glass transition temperature is -150 to 75°, and the TMA softening point is 35 to 100°C.
