<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a volume reduction method for excess sludge in a treatment method for activated sludge for enhancing the solubilization ratio of sludge without obstructing the activation of sludge while reducing an amount to be generated of excess sludge. <P>SOLUTION: An inflow flow channel 13 of return sludge, a sludge solubilization tank 14 and a biological reaction tank 15 are formed successively from the inflow side in the flow-down direction of an existing aeration tank. The sludge solubilization tank 14 is provided as an ascending flow type fixed bed packed with manganese dioxide having a structure capable of supplying an ozone-containing gas from below. The whole or greater part of raw water is supplied to the biological reaction tank 15 while the whole or greater part of return sludge is supplied to the sludge solubilization tank 14, and the residual part of raw water and the residual part of return sludge are supplied to the biological reaction tank 15. In the second invention, the sludge solubilization tank is formed as a fluidized bed in which granular manganese dioxide is dispersed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
