PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of evaluating Ah receptor activity control ability of a sample material with a small amount of the sample at a high sensitivity. SOLUTION: The method for evaluating Ah receptor activity control ability comprises (1) a step for (a) realizing Ah receptor gene and (b) simultaneously or continuously contacting the sample and a protein synthesizing inhibitor with a cell containing a reporter gene having, at the downstream of a dioxin responsive sequence and a base sequence required for transcription initiation, a base sequence coding an inherently exogenous reporter protein of the dioxin responsive sequence, (2) a step for measuring translation product of the reporter gene of the cell contacted with the sample and the protein synthesizing material and (3) a step for evaluating Ah receptor activity control ability of the material based on the translation product measured in the step (2).
