PURPOSE: Provided are an electrolyte for a lithium secondary battery and the lithium secondary battery containing the electrolyte, which prevents swelling, therefore is excellent in lifetime property. CONSTITUTION: The electrolyte for the lithium secondary battery contains a non-aqueous organic solvent, lithium salts, and 0.1-10wt%(based on the electrolyte) of an electrolyte additive(formula 1) such as phenyl vinyl sulfone, chlorophenyl vinyl sulfone, and fluorophenyl vinyl sulfone. In the formula, X is halogen, R1 and R2 are hydrogen or C1-C8 alkyl, and n is an integer of 0-5. |
