PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotating electric machine capable of attaining a high output. SOLUTION: A vehicular alternator 1 includes an armature 2, a rotor 3, an energizing coil 4, a front frame 5, and a rear frame 6. The front frame 5 made of soft iron is formed with a homopolar portion 51, making use of the front-side end of a pole core 32 of the rotor 3. On the outer periphery of the homopolar portion 51, the energizing coil 4 is provided. Unilateral flux developed by the energizing coil 4 of the front frame 5 is added to alternating flux developed by an energizing coil 31 of the rotor 3, and therefore magnetic flux interlinking with an armature winding 23 increases.
