<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air-breathing fuel cell sufficiently supplying air to an oxygen passage plate and enhancing the capacity of power generation by taking in much more oxygen. <P>SOLUTION: This air-breathing fuel cell is comprised of end plates 24; a plurality of polymer electrolyte unit cells 10 positioned between two end plates; a fuel distribution manifold positioned in the central part of the unit cells and supplying fuel there; one bolt 26 passed through the central part of the unit cells and the fuel distribution manifold to unit these members; and fixing nuts fit to both ends of the bolt through washers and O-rings to unit a plurality of unit cells between the end plates 24. The end plates 24, end gaskets 28, and current collecting plates 34 have a communication passage opened outward so as to communicate with an oxygen passage plate of the cell part. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
