<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk drive capable of driving suitably a spindle motor which rotates a discoid recording medium with a single power source in the state of various rotational velocities while electric power consumption is suppressed as much as possible. <P>SOLUTION: The disk drive has: a power supply voltage switching means (230) which switches a first drive control mode which output voltage from a power source is made into power supply voltage to the spindle motor (10), and charges a capacitor (240) for charge with the output voltage from the power source, for a second drive control mode which makes voltage superimposed the output voltage from the power source on the charging voltage of the capacitor (240) for charge the power supply voltage to the spindle motor (10); and a control means (32) which controls the power supply voltage switching means (230) so that the first drive mode is selected when the spindle motor (10) is driven at a constant velocity, and so that the second drive mode is selected when the controlled rotational velocity of the spindle motor (10) is changed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
