PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cap opening auxiliary member for a stay-on tab type can lid which can be opened smoothly with less burden on a finger tip in operating the tab in opening the cap. SOLUTION: This cap opening auxiliary member for a stay-on tab type can lid is provided with a plate-shaped part 10 superimposing on a finger putting ring 8 formed on the back end of a tab 4 having a predetermined thickness, a catching part 11 for catching the ring 8 of the tab 4, and a protrusion 12 formed extensively along the back end edge of the part 10 in a length able to place a finger. The protrusion 12 protrudes in the back of the back end edge of the ring 8 of the tab 4 forming an enough space to place a finger with a winding/tightening wall 9 erected on the outer periphery of the panel 3 of a can lid 2 when the panel-shaped part 10 is superimposed on the ring 8 of the tab 4.
