PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an erroneous signal from being supplied. SOLUTION: In the erroneous display preventing method of a plasma display, a read-out data signal is supplied from an initial data holding circuit 12 to a mute signal generating circuit 16 in response to the rising of a logic voltage and also a rising/falling detection signal is supplied from the rising/falling detecting circuit 181 of a driving high voltage circuit 18 to the mute signal generating circuit 16. The mute signal generated from the circuit 16 is supplied to the AND circuit 141 of a PDP (plasma display panel) video data signal circuit 14. An input video signal is made so as not to be used in generating a PDP video data signal by this mute signal and thus pictures corresponding to the input video data signal are prevented from being erroneously displayed on the screen of a plasma display.
