PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discrimination method for existence of particle crush in a powdery and granular material in a batch type rotating container capable of confirming accurately the existence of the particle crush without using an expensive particle size distribution measuring device. SOLUTION: When the state where a fixed external force is applied in a dust generation drum is continued, generation of dust is soon stopped when the particle crush is not generated. Namely, the total amount of the dust Y (mg) following Y=T<SB>max</SB>ä1-e<SP>-kt</SP>} is shown. On the other hand, when the particle crush is generated in the dust generation drum, particles are crushed successively to generate the dust. Namely, the total amount of the dust Y (mg) is linearly increased following Y=At. The existence of the particle crush in the powdery and granular material is confirmed by discriminating which expression is followed by the sample of the powdery and granular material.
