PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To interference fit a ring-shaped protruding member to the periphery of a spigot upon forming a spigot projection on a pipe. SOLUTION: The device for forming the spigot projection of a pipe is for forming the spigot projection on the periphery of the spigot 7 by fitting a spigot ring 14 on the outside of the periphery of the spigot 7 formed on one end of a pipe 16. The device comprises: a socket side backplate 17 abuttable on an end face 2a of the other end of the pipe 16; a spigot side backplate 18 abuttable against an end face 14d of the spigot ring 14 before being fitted on the outside of the spigot 7; a coupling member 30 connecting the socket side backplate 17 and the spigot side backplate 18; and a socket side hook bolt 19, a socket side nut 20, a spigot side hook bolt 21 and a spigot side nut 22 all capable of shortening the distance between the two backplates 17, 18 of the coupling member 30 and the pipe shaft in the pipe shaft direction by acting on the coupling member 30.
