PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide iron alloy parts which have high hardness in the surfaces, and has excellent fatigue resistance and high temperature softening resistance, and to provide a production method thereof. SOLUTION: The metallic structure of the range from the outermost surface to a depth of 0.1 mm at least contains a retained austenitic phase of≤50% by an area ratio, and a carbide phase of≤30%. In the metallic structure, nitrogen is contained in≤0.50% by mass, and the mean particle diameter of carbides forming the carbide phase is≤5μm. Also, the hardness of the range from the outermost surface at least to a depth of 0.55 mm is≥700 HV. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
