The swirl nozzle has a primary swirl component (2) with an axial bore in which is installed an axially movable secondary swirl component (5). Swirl slots (10) in the secondary swirl component have a smaller cross section than the swirl passages (3) in the primary swirl component. A pin may be fitted centrally in the secondary swirl component.
