A leather cutting assembly is linked to a computer and has a number of punch-operated cutting blades (6) which cut patterns to requirement. The shapes are pre-determined by a combination of the requirement and any blemishes which may be present. The robotic assembly has a number of punch-operated blades with blades adjusted to and conforming with the plotted contour. The computer program optimizes the blade position and their distribution over the cutting table. Independent claims are included for: (1) a process facilitating manual corrections of the blade position; and (2) a leather-cutting process.
