PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve steering feeling by reducing steering friction torque of a cable type steering device. SOLUTION: In this cable type steering device, a drive pulley 59 connected with a steering handle 11 and rotating, and a driven pulley 60 connected with a rack 85 and a pinion 84 of a steering gearbox and rotating are connected by operation cables 15, 16, and steering torque inputted into the steering handle 11 is transmitted to the steering gearbox. The diameter D1 of the drive pulley 59 is set smaller than the diameter D2 of the driven pulley 60 for reducing the steering friction torque by the frictional force of the operation cables 15, 16 or the frictional force of the steering gearbox to improve return in the neutral position of the steering handle 11, and to reduce a load at the beginning of steering of the steering handle 11.
