PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coloring composition for optical fiber excellent in rapid hardenability and adhesion durability and to provide a colored element wire and a colored unit using the same. SOLUTION: The coloring composition for optical fiber used in this invention contains (1)≤10 mass% of a radical polymerizable compound having a molecular weight of >1500 and >10 mass% to≤83 mass% of the radical polymerizable compound having more than two radical polymerizable unsaturated groups in a molecule, contains (2) a photopolymerization initiator having a morpholine ring and an acetophenone series photopolymerization initiator, contains (3) modified silicone having >20 mass% of dimethyl siloxane structure and >40 mass% of ethylene oxide structure, or modified silicone having three polymerizable unsaturated groups at its terminal via a urethane group, and has (4) a concentration of cross-linking component of 2.2 to 3.0 mmol/g and of an average molecular weight between cross-linking points of 30 to 400.
