In order to establish a method for transmitting data in networks over data lines, in which unhindered communication in a network remains available during the transmission of voluminous data within the network for the sender and/or recipient of this data, it is suggested that the data line's bandwidth is divided into at least two portions before transmission, whereby one portion of the bandwidth is reserved for data transmission and another for data reception.
