<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for obtaining a planographic printing plate having large discrimination between exposed and unexposed regions after exposure and development and having a good staining property when a planographic printing plate is made from a negative image forming material which records using an infrared laser. <P>SOLUTION: In the image forming method, a negative image forming material obtained by disposing on a support an image recording layer comprising (A) a radical generator, (B) a radical-polymerizable compound, (C) an IR absorbent and (D) a binder polymer is imagewise exposed with infrared laser light and developed with an alkaline developing solution containing a solvent having a solubility parameter δp within the range of (the solubility parameter δp of the above at least one radical-polymerizable compound)±1.0. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
