<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce deterioration of an optical element. <P>SOLUTION: A display device has a plurality of pixel circuits each of which includes a current-driven type optical element OLED (organic light emitting device) 1, a power source Vdd for supplying electric power to each optical element OLED 1, and a potential control part 20. The potential control part 20 connects the electric power Vdd to the anode of each organic EL element OLED 1 to make each organic EL element OLED 1 emit light, while the control part connects the power source Vdd to the cathode of each organic EL element OLED 1 to make each organic EL OLED 1 to be inversely biased contrary to a light emitting time.
