PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming method and a carrier for developer which enables stable formation of high definition/high resolution picture hardly causing the fluctuation of picture quality and the deterioration of picture and to provide a developer containing the carrier. SOLUTION: In this image forming method, a latent image formed on an image carrier is subjected to contact development by using the developer comprising toner and carrier held on the carrier of rotating developer. Therein, further, the carrier has a coated layer on the surface of magnetic core material, a magnetic brush of the carrier having the space occupation 40% is formed between parallel plate electrodes having a gap d (mm) and the ratio of R1/R2 is≥0.8 and <1.0, wherein, R1 is the electric resistance when AC voltage E in the nearly same direction with the brush is applied at the frequency f and R2 is the electric resistance when the magnetic brush of the carrier having the space occupation 30% is formed and the same measurement is performed.
