PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain K99-5041-C1x substance and K99-5041-C2x substance which are clinical as a prophylactic/therapeutic agent for diseases caused by human cholesterol accumulation and an antifungal agent by exhibition of inhibitory activity against lanosterol synthase. SOLUTION: A bacterium (Streptomyces sp. K99-5041, FERN P-18765) which belongs to the genus Streptomyces and produces K99-5041-C1x substance and K99-5041-C2x substance is cultured in a medium. K99-5041-C1s substance and K99-5041-C2x substance are accumulated in the culture and K99-5041-C1s substance and K99-5041-C2x substance are collected from the culture. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
