The invention relates to a method and a test kit for enriching and detecting lentiviruses, especially HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Viruses) in complex biological samples e.g. body fluids. The viruses are bonded in suitable conditions to a solid phase, isolated, lysed and subsequently the viral nucleic acids are separated and optionally detected.
