PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric rice cooker in which the top layer of cooked rice is prevented from being hardened even during a long-time warmth retaining state by introducing the steam of a high temperature above the top layer of the cooked rice in the warmth retaining state of the cooked rice after the completion of rice cooking. SOLUTION: An electrothermal plate 3 is provided on the inner bottom of a body casing 1, and a container 4 is placed on the electrothermal plate 3. In such a rice cooker, a water tank 7 and an electric heater 8 are provided inside a hollow lid member 5 provided on its upper portion, and in the warmth retaining state after the completion of rice cooking, based upon information from a temperature sensor 13 and a humidity sensor 14, the electric heater 8 is operated in response to a command signal from a controller 2. Then, the steam of the high temperature generated by boiling within the water tank 7 is flowed through piping 12 to a space 11 above the cooked rice top layer 10. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
