PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode which has higher performance, is less expensive than a conventional one and has an electrode part represented by a W-Cu composite material with high costs in materials and manufacturing, and to provide a method for manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: The discoid electrode excellent in electrical characteristics and strength is obtained by bonding an electrode member to a metallic seat member in the electrode by brazing, shrinkage fitting, cold fitting, diffusion bonding, welding, or friction welding using a low-melting metal. The costs are greatly reduced by making the electrode member into a cylindrical shape, a rectangular parallelepiped, and ring shape, and by manufacturing the electrode by using the above bonding method.
