PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform recovery processing without consuming power and liquid drop uselessly. SOLUTION: The ink ejection recovery unit 13 comprises a laser generator 41 for irradiating the ejection opening 6 of a nozzle 7, detected as a faulty nozzle by an ink ejection detector 12, selectively with a laser beam 44, an ink ejecting means 9 for discharging ink from the nozzle 7 following to irradiation with the laser beam 44, and a tank 43 for collecting the discharged ink.
