PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To energize a heating element of a thermal head by an energization time fit for an actual temperature of the heating element of the thermal head. SOLUTION: A CPU 41 calculates an average of gradation numbers of all dots (average gradation number) with the utilization of the gradation number of each dot at a time of thermally transferring to a paper, ink held at a region where a thermal transfer is carried out next. The CPU 41 estimates a temperature of the heating element of the thermal head 11 with the utilization of the detection result of a temperature sensor 77 (temperature of a heat sink where the thermal head 11 is set), the average gradation number and the like. Moreover, the CPU 41 corrects a preliminarily set basic energization time with the utilization of the estimated temperature of the heating element of the thermal head 11 and calculates an actual energization time for actually energizing the heating element of the thermal head 11.
