<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a crystalline/amorphous phase transition type optical recording medium by which high speed recording can be attained and which has high preservation reliability. <P>SOLUTION: In the optical recording medium which has at least one layer of recording layers consisting essentially of a phase transition material and at least one layer of reflecting layers consisting of a metal or an alloy on a transparent substrate and which causes reversible phase transition between a crystalline layer and an amorphous layer in the recording layer by irradiation with light, α, β, γ in element composition formula of the phase transition material: M<SB>1α</SB>M<SB>2β</SB>(Sb<SB>γ</SB>Te<SB>1-γ</SB>)<SB>1-α-β</SB>(wherein M<SB>1</SB>is at least one kind of element selected from a group composed of Ag, Ge, Sn, Bn and Se, M<SB>2</SB>is an element selected from a group composed of In, Ga and Dy) are set so that a value: (R<SB>0</SB>-R<SB>1</SB>)/R<SB>0</SB>(wherein R<SB>0</SB>is reflectivity immediate after crystallization of the recording layer, that is initial reflectivity, and R<SB>1</SB>is reflectivity when crystallized state of the recording layer is stabilized, that is stabilized reflectivity) in which fluctuation of reflectivity in crystallized state of the optical recording medium (the recording layer) is standardized by the initial reflectivity and the stabilized reflectivity, is between 0.08 and 0.12. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
