SOLUTION: Image characteristics to be retrieved are specified by tabs 41-43, 51-54. Retrieving is carried out based on image characteristics identified by the selected tabs 42, 51 and images It found are displayed on an display area 30. The retrieving is carried out based on other image characteristics identified by the unselected tabs 41, 43, 52-54 and the frames F of images found are displayed on the display area 30.
