<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode for a display device capable of prolonging the lifetime from the conventional FED technique which offers a lifetime from 5000 to 10,000 hr, enhancing the light emission efficiency of a PDP to treble as large, accomplishing a performance superior to a CRT with the power consumption sunk to 200 W or less, and establishing a motion speed capable of following moving images, compared with an on-plane switching TN liquid crystal display (IPS system) as an excellent display device having a wide angle of visibility and an improved motion speed to a certain extent. <P>SOLUTION: A needle-shaped crystal body having a length of 100-300 nm and a diameter of 50-150 nm is sputtered by a device which sputters an ITO film with a titanium positive ion plasma, parallel to a high-density titanium target, according to the confronting target system, and further platinum and boron oxide are dispersed, and thereby an improved thin-film electron source for various display devices is achieved in which the electrode resistance decreases with the time elapsed in a lifetime testing, and the invention further includes an effective manufacturing method for them. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO</p> |
