PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video camera which suitably corrects a defect image generated posteriorly without a deterioration of its operability. SOLUTION: It is judged whether or not a predetermined period elapsed from a reference date whenever power is turned on. When the predetermined period passage is determined, an image sensor 14 detects a defect image and updates the defect pixel information of an EEPROM 24. An image signal 14 for a subject when picked up by an image sensor 14 is subjected to pixel correction on the basis of such defect pixel information. That is, defect image detection is executed when the power turn-on date elapses a predetermined period or more from the reference date. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
