<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing system for easily executing device setting desired by a user. <P>SOLUTION: A user is allowed to have an accessory 41 embedded with equipment capable of receiving a signal, and returning the signal, and the signal transmitted from the accessory 41 is received by a printer 2 equipped with a sensor, and which user is present in this neighborhood is recognized by the printer side so that it is possible for the printer to grasp the existence and attribute of the user without making the user notice it, and to change the device setting to that suitable for the recognized user.
