PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a line detection apparatus whereby a user correctly recognizes a connection form of a communication network and realizes a correct connection form between a communication terminal and the communication network to quickly utilize the communication network. SOLUTION: The line detection apparatus having a common communication I/F connector connected to an ISDN and an Ethernet (100 BASE-TX) network detects whether the communication I/F is connected to the ISDN or an Ethernet (100 BASE-TX), or not connected to any network, and displays the connection state. This invention allows the user to easily recognize whether a connector or a modular cable at a communication network side going to be used is connected to the ISDN or the Ethernet (100 BASE-TX) or not connected to anything through the display of the connection state of the line detection apparatus to the communication network so that the user immediately realizes a correct connection from between the communication terminal and the communication network to quickly utilize the communication network.
