PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving method of an organic EL element capable of driving the organic EL element with high speed. SOLUTION: In driving the organic EL element by applying pulse voltage with pulse width T, when lighting the organic EL element by turning the driving voltage from low-level to high-level, low-level voltage is set negative, and when turning-off the organic EL element by turning the driving voltage from high-level to low-level, as the low-level voltage is set negative, comparing with the case of setting the low-level voltage to 0 volt, respective rise timeτup and fall timeτdown of light emission is shortened, namely, response speed becomes quicker.
