PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the troublesomeness of a steering operation when a vehicle runs on a road surface tilted laterally with respect to the forward traveling direction of the vehicle. SOLUTION: When the road surface on which the vehicle runs is tilted, a control device 14 calculates the steering angle (gradient offset amount) of steering wheels 5 necessary for traveling forward the vehicle on the sloped road surface. The sloped offset amount can be provided, for example, by multiplying the weight of the vehicle, a vehicle speed detected by a vehicle speed sensor 15, a gradient detected by a gradient detector 16, and a predetermined gain by each other. After the gradient offset amount is calculated, the control device 14 sets an actuator control amount according to the calculated gradient offset amount, a detected operation angle by an operating angle sensor 11, and a detected steering angle by a steering angle sensor 13 and, based on the set actuator control amount, controls a steering actuator 2 through a drive circuit 17.
