PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the quality of a gas generated by the combustion of a fuel oil, particularly a diesel fuel, more concretely to reduce the increase in particulates and the formation of soot in a diesel exhaust gas and in a filter cartridge system of a boiler to thereby improve the performance of a particulate trap used in the exhaust gas system of a diesel engine. SOLUTION: The additive composition comprises a fuel additive composition containing solution or dispersion of an oil-soluble metal carboxylate or metal complex derived from a compound of a specified formula and that the solution or dispersion contains 20-80 mass% of the carboxylate or complex and 80-20 mass% of a hydrocarbon solvent.
